criteria :Â For my project i am going to be modernising a dress and making it. firstly what i am going to do is look at the picture of my grandmothers dress from the 60's and see what i think i could modernise in my opinion. i will then do research to see which styles of dresses are fashionable now and what makes them fashionable to then add it to my own modernised version.

Planning
my initial research question was How has fashion and popular styles in fashion changed since the 1960’s and why?
i chose the global context of Personal and cultural expression
During the making of the product i did a lot of research about the 1960's and onward to 2020. i watched videos about it and read a lot about it as well. I googled a lot about what fashion was popular in each decade. from this i saw which styles were kept the same or what came back into style from the decades.
During the process of making the dress i did not have that much difficulty with the making of the dress. the only problem was that it took a very long time and as i have never stitched a dress before i had to also learn how to do that and the step by step process of it.
in the beggining i had many different ideas of how i wanted my dress to look like and i had to choose one of them at the end which i found would be the best match for what i needed.

during this time i discovered that planning is very key to making a dress. there are a lot of things that you need to know before making one. I also had to put into concideration of what i have to keep and add in my dress to have it the way i needed it.

Motivation and personal interest
the reason that i chose to do this project was because i am very into fashion and the latest trends. so therefor i had a bit of nowledge before hand on this topic. another reason that i decided to create the dress instead of just drawing it was because i wanted to see what it was like to make a dress and learn all of the steps to making it. from this project i then learnt a lot about sewing and a lot more about fashion throughout the decades. this would then be connected to my future in case i want to do something related to fashion as a job later.
Process taking action
before starting with the dress i did a lot of research about fashion and how it changed through the decades. this helped me know what i wanted my dress to look like as i knew what changes were made and what the fashionable syles are at the moment. after the research i did i made 5 different dress designs to then choose which one i was going to make. after choosing the dress i had to choose the right pattern that i wanted my dress to be which i got from a magazine i had about fashion. once i had chosen my pattern i went to the shops and bought everything necessary to make my product. this included the material of the dress, the correct thread colours, the chalk to trace the pattern of the dress on the cloth and the straps.
